Let's all extend a helping hand to 'Sendong' victims

I felt sad upon seeing the pictures and videos of Typhoon Sendong victims. My prayers go out to the families & individuals who were deeply affected by the recent typhoon. In line with this, I am encouraging everyone to do all possible means to extend our help to the victims of Typhoon Sendong. Our help will truly make the season of giving meaningful.

Here are some WAYS to HELP Typhoon Sendong (aka Washi) Victims in Mindanao: Monetary, Relief Goods, Volunteer Work

VOLUNTEER WORK

De La Salle Phillipines: De La Salle University (Manila), La Salle Greenhills, La Salle Academy Iligan are still in need of volunteers for repackaging goods. They will also conduct training on Dec 23 for volunteers who want to participate in the Stress Debriefing, Trauma Healing/Counseling and Intervention for the typhoon victims.

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150431571351073&set=a.124461036072.106302.69975336072&type=1&theater

Department of Social Welfare and Services (DSWD): http://twitpic.com/7vc5cy

Gawad Kalinga: http://www.gk1world.com/typhoon-sendong-operation-walang-iwanan

GMA Kapuso Foundation: They need volunteers for repacking relief goods and to man phones for their telethon. http://www.kapusofoundation.com/volunteer

ABS CBN Foundation: There are calls for volunteers to repackage relief goods. However, according to their Sagip Kapamilya website, volunteers need to present a photocopy of a valid ID and a clearance (NBI, baranggay or police clearance), and two (2) 2x2 ID photos; fill up a downloadable form; and attend an orientation. Please contact the Sagip Kapamilya numbers provided at the link for updated information on how to volunteer. http://www.sagipkapamilya.com/index.php?page=vol

**All those listed above are legitimate and verified, and have ongoing and organized relief operations that are accounted for. Some of them have partnered up with other organizations or with each other for better operations or response systems.

There are MANY OTHER OPTIONS and ways to help. Many other schools, churches, NGO's and citizen's groups have been actively doing relief work. Please consult consolidated lists from other blogs; most are updated. However, some of them just add information and are probably not updated about sudden changes.
